Menopause at Work
How many experienced teachers or professionals are we losing because menopause isn’t talked about at work? Too many, and it’s time to change that.
It is estimated that 1.1 billion women are in menopause. In places like the UK, research shows that 1 in 10 women leave their jobs due to menopause-related challenges. But this isn’t just a UK issue. Across workplaces globally, women are struggling in silence, often without the support or understanding they need.
The problem
The solution
With over 25 years as a teacher, I understand first-hand the unique challenges of working in a classroom while navigating menopause.
I’ve delivered staff and parent information sessions, set up menopause cafés, provided 1:1 coaching for teachers and senior leaders, and written menopause policies for schools. I’ve also led whole-school wellbeing programs—because real change isn’t a one-off session, it’s a shift in culture. Schools don’t need another generic wellbeing talk; they need practical, tailored strategies that acknowledge the realities of teaching while empowering staff to thrive.
And it’s not just schools—across industries, businesses are facing the same challenge. I’ve worked with organizations like the Supply Chain School, delivering sessions to 75 delegates from a range of companies about the impact of menopause in the construction industry and how to create more open dialogue and supportive systems.
Whatever the setting, I bring real-world experience, practical strategies, and an approach that shifts menopause from being an uncomfortable topic to one that fosters confidence, understanding, and action.
Want to create a workplace where experienced staff don’t feel they have to leave and foster an inclusive, positive, diverse, and productive working environment?
